Enterprises encouraged to start on public clouds

The initial fear of the cloud as an insecure computing architecture may be subsiding and, as a result, more businesses are looking to adopt the platform. However, these companies may want to break away from the private cloud mold and begin their venture within public cloud space.

According to InfoWorld, the practice of transporting company data to a private cloud is redundant. Businesses that host a private cloud miss out on the cost-saving benefits of virtualized information, as they need to maintain the network, assign processing power and worry about security measures all by themselves.

Instead, many companies should consider migrating their IT resources to a public cloud, reports the news source. The advantages to this are that public clouds "can be up and running in a short amount of time, you pay for only the resources you consume and you don't have to push yet another server into the data center."

The speed at which this transition can take place is one of the most commonly cited and highly regarded advantages of the cloud. According to a report by Inc.com, most businesses choose scalability concerns over price as the main reason why they adopted cloud computing architecture.
