European enterprises are without cloud plans
There has been much talk throughout Europe recently on how to best implement the cloud and even some of the European Union's top politicians are beginning to look at the platform in depth. However, a new study reveals businesses throughout the continent may not prioritize the cloud as highly as some of their elected officials.
According to a survey conducted by Easynet Global Services, 57 percent of European CIOs feel that their current technology platforms and networks are sufficient for their business to remain on-pace with the rest of the industrial world.
Furthermore, approximately a third of respondents felt that the cloud was too insecure a platform to store enterprise data on, stated the report.
However, IT analysts in Europe are working to change this notion.
"Companies will not get the benefits they expect from cloud computing unless CIOs consider the entire scenario, not just where their data is stored," said Justin Fielder, Easynet's CTO.
The efforts of the computing industry and the federal government may eventually dispel fears about virtualized data. According to Reuters, the European Union is taking a broader interest in the cloud, as it claims widespread adoption could save the continent billions annually.
