Airline safety flies to the cloud
The sight of planes slicing through clouds is nothing new. However, airlines providing virtual services to mobile users is, reports Aviation Business.
Recently, several major airlines have banded together to create a new program called Onesafe. The service will provide travelers with real time data on the risk attributed to each airline.
The program is intended to improve airline safety, which is largely dependent on regulations, maintenance and professional reputation, claims the news source. If customers are more informed about the dangers associated with certain companies, future disasters may be prevented.
The advantage of the Onesafe system is that it is cloud enabled, setting apart from existing services like it.
“The difference here between Onesafe and other systems is that Onesafe is the first organization to develop a system exclusively around cloud technology,” Ron Bartsch, Quantas group general manager of safety, compliance and operational risk, told the media outlet. "That means that any safety threats or changes in regulations are instantly entered remotely."
The service will be run on mobile devices, which are well suited for the cloud. According to Investors, the current emphasis on remote computing will lead to the platform's heyday in the near future.
