CIOs hail cloud benefits to business operations

In an effort to increase productivity and embrace innovation, many CIOs are turning toward cloud technology for their business solutions. Computer World reports that an increased number of these executives are allocating more operation funds to cloud technology and that cloud interest is up 10 percent from 2010.

The main reason for this shift is predicated on business efficiency. Gary Kuyper, CIO of Bethany Christian Services, praised the cloud for its effectiveness in the absence of computer-based storage options.

"We see that [cloud computing] will open up resources for us. Last year, I had to configure computers for 400 new staff, and the idea of setting up someone a lot quicker is a huge advantage," he told the news source.

This concept of speedy set-up, paired with the remote access capabilities of managed cloud services, are the most attractive benefits of the operating system. The public still has several concerns about the new technology, namely the need for heightened security capabilities. However, many industry leaders are working on this issue, including UK-based Certivox, which just raised 1.5 million dollars to develop cloud security services that focus on protecting email integrity and preventing data leaks, according to Tech Crunch.
