Government cloud panel empowered by new executive
The prevailing notion is that the U.S. government is willing to do whatever it takes in order to make sure its agencies adopt the cloud. This is part of a larger mandate by President Obama, who firmly believes that the advantages of the platform could save the federal government time and money, which can free up budget space for other important incentives.
In order to integrate the cloud successfully, it employs a national advisory panel, dubbed Commission on the Leadership Opportunity in U.S. Deployment of the Cloud, also known as CLOUD². According to Syntel, one of its executives, Ashok Balasubramanian, has been named to the panel.
Balasubramanian is head of Syntel's Cloud Computing Center of Excellence, a research and development division within company that focuses on business integration while reducing costs.
Experts say that the integration process is sometimes costly and complicated. Throw the federal government into the mix, and the window for errors widens. Therefore, administrative panels like CLOUD² may greatly help migration efforts.
Other standards boards within the cloud industry are increasing their membership, and some are even joining forces. According to SYS-CON, the Cloud Security Alliance teamed up with the International Standards Organization to develop better cloud privacy standards.
