Cloud expected to dominate computing
The cloud is set to become the computing mode of the future, according to Investors. The newest generation, with preference for mobile computing technologies, will likely take the cloud to new heights over the next 20 years.
An increasingly mobile world favors the cloud, reports the news source. Remote access devices do not have the extensive memory potential of their desktop predecessors, creating the need for more information to be stored virtually. Furthermore, the mobile market is empowered by social media, which most users now interact with on-the-go.
These fundamental aspects of society have led to high industry expectations for the cloud.
"Over the next 20 years, the cloud will become the most dominant form of computing,” Treb Ryan, CEO of OpSource, told the media organization.
Accordingly, he claims the business sector will also house an ever larger number of its services in the cloud and that the platform, which many people have labeled "revolutionary," will eventually become a standardized way of life.
Market analysts seem to agree with these predictions. According to a report by Gartner, the SaaS industry will be valued at $10.7 billion by 2014.
