Survey: SaaS adoption up 13 percent from 2010
The cloud is predicted by several research firms to become the computing model of the future, and as a result the platform will likely see a strong financial year in 2011. This may be attributed to the fact that companies are now implementing the software in record numbers.
According to a recent study by Information Week Analytics, 60 percent of responding IT professionals have adopted some form of Software-as-a-Service in the past year, which is an increase of 13 percent from 2010.
IT technicians are among the biggest advocates for cloud computing, as the company reports "most IT pros tell us they're happy to outsource apps so they have time to focus on content development and other projects."
Additionally, the survey addressed why 40 percent of businesses are reticent to use the software in their enterprise. The main reasons mostly dealt with security concerns and a lack of need for some businesses to revamp their existing IT infrastructures.
Acceptance by the IT industry may be a critical factor that dictates the cloud's growth. However, the concerns that it will replace the need for these professionals, according to IT Director, are unwarranted, for there will always be a need for end-point user services.
