Online casino adopts cloud computing to increase gambling
Officials from Bet365, a British online casino, announced the company has adopted the cloud in order to improve the real-time experience for its end-users. As a result, users can now make bets at much faster speeds in addition to other improvements.
Overall, the adoption of the cloud as a managed IT service has reduced the latency Bet365 had previously experienced with its systems. The cloud now allows the company to provide a constant stream of real-time information in addition to processing the large amount of data submitted by users.
"We [were] looking to get data from our back-office systems to all our connected websites with as low a latency as possible," said Martin Davies, chief technology officer at Bet365. "The new, push system has reduced the latency to two seconds, and can now support upwards of a few million users concurrently."
Cloud adoption rates have seen significant increases during the past several years, which has led many experts to predict an optimistic future for the service. IDC forecasts the public cloud market to be worth $29.5 billion by 2015. With more companies such as Bet365 realizing the benefits of cloud services, this figure could increase even further.
