Report: SaaS deployments being driven by tablet computer adoption

According to recent research conducted by AMI Partners, a growing number of businesses are adopting tablet computers in place of desktop PCs. This shift in technology has also led to an increase in Software-as-a-Service deployments, as businesses want to keep tablet users connected communally.

AMI's research discovered that businesses with tablet computers are 20 percent more likely to utilize SaaS applications than those without. Furthermore, hosted document collaboration usage for tablet users is more than double that of businesses without tablets. Also, hosted productivity suite usage is almost 50 percent higher for tablet-driven companies.

"Tablet adoption has been highly fragmented across industries,” said Michael McDonald, a senior associate for AMI Partners. "We see the strongest interest in professional services, healthcare, hospitality and the media businesses. The early adopters realize the intrinsic value in having a highly mobile device that enables users to immediately access data, process information and respond accordingly."

Deloitte Consulting recently estimated that businesses account for 25 percent of all current tablet sales. If this figure increases, so could the market for enterprise SaaS adoption.
