CSA director: Increased cloud use will lead to greater security measures

As more companies adopt the cloud, the need for managed service providers to implement tough security standards will grow accordingly.

According to One Stop Click, many industry executives believe that the platform's popularity will promote the development of more complex security applications. Jim Reavis, executive director for the Cloud Security Alliance, states the reason for this view is that more clouds will likely mean an increased number of attempted virtual attacks.

"I think we're going to see incidents that are significant, but it's also going to become more interesting as the incidents may kick-start debates on who's going to be responsible for the breach," he told the media outlet.

He also states that companies will need to take necessary measures to protect their software, as well as delineate who is responsible for cloud-based security.

The CSA is a leading organization that hopes to boost cloud security by making it more uniform. According to Cybermedia India Online, the organization has recently taken this initiative to global levels, adding a chapter in Mumbai. The new group will add 250 members to the already 1,800-strong standard's body.
