Cloud uptake expected to soar in 2011
According to new market research by Silicon.com, 2011 is set to become the biggest year to date for the cloud as more organizations than ever before will be making the move to SaaS.
Businesses that already practice cloud computing will be expanding their virtual holding, states the news source. These companies expect their SaaS usage to triple by year's end and 10 percent of businesses will migrate all of their computing functions to the virtual realm by 2012.
Among other advantages, the cloud gives businesses the flexibility to adjust IT demands on-the-go. Accordingly, this has been noted as a major boost to enterprise computing.
"If the organization wants to start a new project in a month's time, then cloud computing gives them the kit to run it," Anthony Miller, managing partner at analyst house TechMarketView, told the media outlet.
The forecast for the SaaS market is also very favorable, causing many analysts to predict groundbreaking numbers. According to a recent survey by Gartner, the market for SaaS will likely triple between 2011 and 2014.
