Study: SMBs predicted to become based in the cloud
According to CMS Wire, a recent study that was conducted by Microsoft depicts that the concerns surrounding cloud computing and its functionality may be changing over to confidence. The biggest turnaround comes from the software companies themselves, who were either unsure exactly how to leverage their cloud computing software against their existing capabilities or felt security questions posed too great a risk, according to the news source. Still, this change from wariness to acceptance by computer industry leaders may be a seen as a critical step in the cloud's evolution.
One area that may harness the cloud's potential is server message blocks (SMB). However, this movement of SMBs over to cloud computing is not expected to happen overnight. Instead, the news source reports that this shift will be much more gradual, and is likely to take three years to complete in full.
The possibility of SMBs moving to the cloud may be appealing to vendors looking to promote their products. According to by IT Business Edge, in a recent poll of cloud service executives over the use of SMB in their operating platforms, 77 percent said they were most intrigued by the cloud's ability to keep software continually updated, while 71 percent said they feel the cloud's strength for SMB lies in the system's remote accessibility.
