Survey: 28 percent of U.S. organizations deploy the cloud

According to a report by the computer products company CDW, the cloud has taken hold in the United States. Recently, the company launched a survey which asked 1,2000 IT professionals from different organizations about their enterprise plans for the platform.

As it currently stands, 28 percent of respondents claim to use the cloud in their business. Additionally, most seem to favor an incremental approach, as 73 percent of those deploying the IT solution reported that they began virtual computing with only one application.

The slow but steady approach is a good adoption strategy, according to CDW’s leadership.

“Many organizations are carefully - and selectively - moving into cloud computing, as well they should, because it represents a significant shift in how computing resources are provided and managed,” said David Cottingham, a senior director at CDW.

Furthermore, a major finding of the report is most businesses utilizing the cloud have been able to reduce IT expenses.

The nationwide adoption signifies the growing popularity of the platform. However, the cloud is set become a global phenomenon. According to a recent study by ZDnet, business in Singapore, Germany and the UK have implemented hybrid clouds.
