Report: Data archiving going to the cloud

According to a recent Bedford Report, data archiving companies were initially unprepared for the widespread adoption of the cloud and companies’ demands involving it. As a result, the archiving industry suffered losses during the last quarter.

Companies have been requiring increased amounts of storage space each year, which led many to adopt the cloud. Switching to the managed IT service allows companies access to greater data space while reducing costs. However, as this fact became more apparent, archiving companies have increased their efforts to cure this demand.

Experts in the data archiving field believe the trend toward cloud computing as a data storage solution will continue for the forseeable future.

"Traditional methods of storage are proving costly, inefficient and unable to keep pace with client needs, and new, more efficient and intelligent methods of storage are beginning to take their place," the experts told Computerworlduk.com

In addition to offering data archiving at a cost-effective rate, virtualization within the cloud has intrigued many businesses, increasing the managed IT service’s adoption rate.
