What You Will Do:
The Software Engineer will lead and perform development tasks for client projects with Internet-, intranet-, extranet-based or internal applications. The successful candidate will demonstrate command of object oriented design concepts and be able to perform at the highest levels in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of Cold Fusion, CSS and XHTML technologies. Other helpful tools: PHP, Perl, Python, XML, JavaScript, HTML, database interactions and data modeling.
You should understand new web technologies to provide technical leadership in developing service applications, and be able to analyze business requirements as they pertain to intranet and external Internet-related systems. You will provide written design documents, test plans and test results. In addition, you will manage, develop, integrate and implement related applications components, including front-end development, server-side development and database integration. This is a senior engineer position where we expect the individual to be able to architect and lead the technical effort of a project, and then code the solution. It is considered a “hands-on leadership” role.
Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, recommend, develop, and/or implement project specific software solutions to meet tactical, reliability, performance, and security requirements for external client projects.
- Assume accountability for the successful completion of assigned projects and tasks with adherence to established standards, procedures, and processes as identified by NaviSite.
- Formulate and recommend technical specifications and provide professional consultation and guidance to team members.
What We Are Looking For:
Qualifications Desired:
- Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 6 - 8 years development experience.
- Design and software architecture experience for enterprise application.
- Excellent skills and experience in Cold Fusion
- Intermediate Perl, Python skills
- Open Source experience desired
- Intermediate Java skills desired
- Ruby on Rails experience is a plus
- Significant experience with XML, HTML, JavaScript, object-oriented design and data architecture required.
- Experience with both Oracle and MySql database
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Proven exceptional “soft” skills in communication, customer service, teamwork, and adherence to technical standards and procedures.
- Professional certifications a plus
- Consulting experience a plus
- Leadership skills a must!
