Report: Cloud ultimate destination for enterprise computing

According to a recent report from Bruce Boyers Marketing Services, cloud computing is quickly becoming a favored IT trend for many businesses of all sizes.

The report relays that the cloud is “the ultimate destination for enterprise computing,” with many current major companies, such as Microsoft and Cisco, adopting “robust initiatives.”

Several recent reports have showcased the benefits of the managed IT service. Pike Research found increased cloud adoption led to a 38 percent reduction in global data energy expenditures by 2010. Another report, conducted by the Centre of Economics and Business Research, estimates the technology will generate billions of dollars in productivity to the top economies during the next five years.

The marketing services report states that as more companies move to the cloud, they must be aware of, and have solutions for, data fragmentation. Furthermore, these solutions must be completely automatic and operate in the background to perform optimally. Manual defragmentation will only slow business operations down, as the demand for computers to be in the cloud and unhindered rises.

Regardless of fragmentation solutions, cloud consumption continues to reach all-time highs. IDC predicts the public cloud market will reach $29.5 billion by 2015.
