As of early this morning full service has been restored to most customers. There are a few issues outstanding with specific environments being addressed on a case by case basis. We will continue to run on generator power at least until the current severe weather passes and we have full confidence in the quality and stability of the utility power feed. When we have determined that the street power is stable we will give our customer at least two hour notice prior to switching over to the public utility.
Our root cause analysis is continuing. All indication is that the electrical transfer switch was damaged as the result of a power surge thus causing the failure of the generators to pick up the load. We will be on manual override until the situation has been fully addressed and resolved.

We remain on generator power as we continue to perform the root cause analysis of the initial generator fail-over issue from this morning. We expect to remain on generator power through the night. Once we have determined and remediated root cause with appropriate testing we will notify customer of our intent to cut back over to the public utility. We will provide all customers at least two hours prior notice before making the switch. Fuel will continue to be delivered at regular intervals and facilities staff will continue to be on site 7×24 until the issue is fully resolved.

The street power has been restored, but we are purposely remaining on generator power; the plan is to stay on generator power until we are assured that utility power will remain stable. Generators are performing as expected. We will continue to monitor the weather and will continue on generator power until we are confident that we can switch over. We are continuing our root cause analysis and will continue to up date the situation on this blog. We thank all of our customers for their continuing patience.

We experienced a power outage impacting the San Jose data center facility this morning at approximately 4:45 PST. The power outage resulted from the severe storms in the area impacting a widespread area surrounding the NaviSite facility.
Generator power has been restored to the data center in San Jose, but the site was without power for approximately 45 to 60 minutes. NaviSite engineers are in the process of restoring connectivity to impacted client environments. Client updates are being communicated every 15 minutes via email direct to client’s management contacts.
Customers requiring additional information can call the NaviSite Operations Center directly at 1-888-264-4662 (US), 978-946-5999 (Outside the US) or nocmonitor@navisite.com. In addition customers can view frequent updates posted at www.navisite.com/blog.
