In the wake of Convergence 2009, there was one theme which resonated among the attendees – “I like Dynamics-CRM – but I don’t want to manage it – or its integration with Exchange”.

This is very understandable. No matter how easy Microsoft says it is to integrate the two products, no one wants to unnecessarily increase the complexity within their messaging environment – or add more integration points to their daily management tasks.  The good news for Dynamics CRM-Exchange fans is that both of these products are a natural fit for hosting services.  Read more…

97% Uptime for SaaS Applications… That’s not “Best in Class”

Achieve SaaS application up-time: 97%.  That was the headline on a research report released today by the Aberdeen Group of Retailers use of SaaS solutions.  For those that haven’t done the quick math on this, 97% up-time works out to just under 22 hours of downtime in a month… almost a full day every month without your on-demand application being available.  While this number is fairly shocking in itself, it actually gets worse.  The 97% availability was for the “Best in Class: Top 20%” of aggregate performance scorers.  “Industry Average: Middle 50%” had up-time scores of 93% (just over 50 hours of downtime… over 2 days/month!) and Laggard:  Bottom 30%… well, is it even worth mentioning at this point.
