The U.S. government backs cloud computing

There is a movement that advocates the wholesale adoption of the cloud, and many of its most vocal supporters are software companies. However, private enterprise is not the only sector to highlight the benefits of cloud computing architecture. In an effort to quell fears regarding data integrity in the cloud, the government has launched an initiative to incorporate the platform in its own operations.

According to Fierce Government IT, the chief Information officer of the U.S., Vivek Kundra, told a House subcommittee recently that it is no longer a question of whether or not the cloud will be implemented in government agencies, for the process is well underway. Instead, he said government information technology officers should focus on the international ramifications of adopting the system.

"It's not going to be a question of technology. This is going to be a question of international law, and treaties that we will need to engage in the coming years," said Kundra, as reported by the news source.

This government-sponsored adoption of the cloud has made headway in recent months. According to Forbes, the Department of Defense may have put security issues surrounding the cloud to rest by using the technology for secure sites such as the Pentagon.
