Tech Council hails government’s cloud-based IT reform
The American Council for Technology has highly praised President Obama's recent decision to improve IT management for the Office of Budget and Management. The Obama Administration recently announced a “cloud-first” policy for IT solutions, in which cloud services would be utilized to solve problems whenever possible.
Jeff Zients, the OBM’s chief performance officer, called the project a “signature of this administration,” Federal News Radio reports.
The American Council for Techology praised the plans as well. Prashant Gaur, president of the ACT, was particularly pleased with levels of communication between the tech industry and the government.
"At the end of the day, industry is the group that makes things happen in terms of execution for the government," Gaur said to Federal News Radio. "The whole acquisition problem cannot be solved with government on its own. To the point we can pull industry in and come up with solutions which make our government much more agile, that would be great."
The federal government has actively sought cloud solutions to several issues. Recently, the FCC announced its plans to revamp its website to be run on cloud services. It will be the first government agency website to be completely cloud-based.
