Survey: Cloud is poised for global adoption

It is a well established fact that the cloud is set to become a major player on the U.S. computing scene. The federal government and some of the biggest companies in the country have begun their transitions to the cloud. Now, it appears that the rest of the world is planning to do the same.

A survey by IT service management provider Axios Systems has found that the cloud is set to gather across the entirety of the globe. A grand total of 68 percent of "global organizations" will reportedly adopt cloud services.

A closer look at the statistics reveals that 5 percent plan to implement the platform in the next 3 months, 16 percent within 3-to-6 months and 20 percent in 6 months or beyond. Regardless of time frame, the report makes its clear that the cloud is a global IT solution.

Additionally, 28 percent of those responding to the Axios survey have already begun to use the cloud in business operations.

These findings are supported by other market research projects centered on cloud computing. According to Forrester research, the cloud market is expected to balloon in the next 10 years. By 2020, the worldwide cloud industry is predicted to be worth $240 billion.
