Every week we highlight cloud computing and technology news of interest. This week we’re covering how much revenue top cloud providers hauled in last quarter, the real barrier organizations face in reaching DevOps maturity, how Google is using artificial intelligence (AI) to track your crowded train ride to work, a look at Google Cloud’s new security tools and Microsoft’s new solar project.
Let’s get started…
Just how quickly are top cloud providers experiencing growth? According to new data, the world’s five largest cloud providers brought in $47.5 billion in revenue for the quarter ending in March 2021, with Amazon and Microsoft generating 65% of that value. What is stopping organizations from reaching DevOps maturity? According to one report, 83% of IT decision-makers say their organizations are implementing DevOps practices, but they stall out mid-evolution. While technology may seem like the obvious culprit, a new study indicates that culture is the real barrier. Find out why in BetaNews here.
Ready to get back to the office but aren’t sure just how crowded your train might be? Google is working on expanding an existing solution to help. Google is also rolling out new tools amid the increasing volume of cyber threats. Google Cloud says they are building “invisible security” into the cloud as they unveil several new offerings. Dive into the new products in ZDNet here.
The future looks bright for Microsoft. That’s because the tech giant’s Arizona solar project is now up and running. The project, which Microsoft is a partner in, aims to offset the energy used by Microsoft data centers in Arizona as they aim to be net-zero by 2030.
