How AWS Managed Services Maximizes Your Investment in the Cloud
Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud adoption has accelerated in today’s post-pandemic era, as businesses of all sizes set their sights on the undeniable benefits of digital transformation—like agility, flexibility, cost savings and so much more. Today, 92% of organizations have at least part of their IT environment on the cloud.
In that race to the cloud, however, many are realizing that these benefits aren’t automatic. That’s because properly running and maintaining a cloud environment requires speed, specialized skillsets and the right tools to achieve innovation and growth goals. Without the right expertise, enterprises risk implementing underutilized architecture with poor security, increased and unexpected costs and technology that fails to drive competitive differentiation.
In fact, more than 70% of IT leaders reported “negative effects” from cloud adoptions during the pandemic. And the nation’s severe IT labor shortage has 90% of enterprises struggling to find workers with cloud-related skills.
That’s why many organizations are partnering with experienced AWS-certified Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to maximize the value of their cloud investment, unlock new possibilities and achieve the promise of digital transformation. What are AWS Managed Services? By tapping into the expertise of a third-party expert, businesses can access the support and expertise they need throughout the entire cloud migration lifecycle and beyond—from developing cloud strategies and initial migration analysis to production cutovers and ongoing support and optimization.
In this blog post, we highlight two real-world examples from Navisite customers that prove how important AWS Managed Services is in helping businesses achieve their digital transformation goals.
Effectively Managing Costs and Continually Optimizing the Cloud
Kallik had a goal to move Veraciti, its proprietary label management platform, and 100% of its customers to AWS. At the time, Veraciti was running on an on-premises Oracle database that was hosted on another managed service provider’s private cloud—but it couldn’t scale with Kallik’s growing business.
No other company in the labeling industry is fully operating on the public cloud, and Kallik saw this as a key competitive advantage that would enable its users to future-proof their operations and benefit from new technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. A move to AWS would also enable the company to easily scale based on demand while strengthening its Veraciti platform with cloud-native features. These features include constant uptime, comprehensive redundancy and industry-leading security.
Navisite helped Kallik execute the migration process, which entailed a lift-and-shift of the existing on-premises Oracle databases to the Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) on AWS.
Now that Kallik is up and-running on AWS, Navisite is providing managed services for the Oracle databases running on Amazon RDS, including performance monitoring, backup monitoring, diagnostics installations, configurations, troubleshooting, maintenance and disaster recovery. Navisite is also managing core resources on the AWS platform and providing 24/7 infrastructure support. This includes ongoing cloud optimization, which offloads the burden of billing to Navisite. With insight into monthly cloud spend, Navisite’s FinOps experts are able to provide Kallik with recommendations to effectively manage costs and continually optimize its cloud investment.
Today, Kallik and its customers benefit from strengthened security and regulatory compliance, improved performance, always-on availability, and the ability to quickly adopt new artwork and labeling technologies.

Continually Improving Infrastructure, Processes and Costs
Clinigen has taken a cloud-first approach to support its global distribution model—and implementing Oracle EBS on AWS was key to this strategy. Clinigen needed a highly scalable cloud architecture to support its operations and meet demand. But due to the complex nature of the Oracle EBS implementation, Clinigen sought a partner with expertise in this area to guide the project with minimal risk and downtime.
Navisite’s cloud experts helped Clinigen successfully develop, pilot, test and implement its Oracle EBS database and applications in Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2). Navisite also implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) as an Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) with the associated applications deployed as Amazon EC2 instances.
Following the migration, Clinigen tapped Navisite to become its hosting services partner, providing ongoing managed services for the company’s AWS environment as well as for the database running Oracle EBS.
One of the other defining characteristics of Clinigen’s engagement with Navisite as a partner is also the team’s focus on continuous service improvement, which led the company to tap into Navisite’s AWS Managed Services—especially its AWS Cloud Optimization (ACO) service. As part of Navisite’s ACO service, our FinOps experts work closely with Clinigen to continually optimize the company’s Oracle EBS environment to support the optimal use of resources and meet the needs of existing and changing services over time.
“Navisite continually looks for opportunities to improve our infrastructure, processes and costs on the cloud, which frees my team to focus on projects that will advance the business,” said Andy Parker, the VP of Information Technology at Clinigen.

Get Trusted Guidance From an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner
One of the key benefits of the cloud is its flexibility. But along with that flexibility comes the potential pitfalls of taking a “set it and forget it” approach. To ensure you’re tapping into the true power of AWS to optimize business operations and drive efficiency, innovation and cost savings, you need access to a wide range of resources and training to deploy, run, optimize and manage your cloud environment.
Navisite is an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, which gives us access to a wide range of resources and training to deploy, run and manage workloads and applications in the cloud—and offer the AWS Managed Services companies need to maximize their cloud environment and drive competitive differentiation.
