Weekly Cloud Provider News – Amazon Multi-Region Infrastructure, Azure Backup Improvements and Oracle Unified Directory Certification
Each week, we highlight the latest cloud provider news from the industry’s top providers. This week, Amazon goes multi-region with infrastructure deployment, Azure makes several improvements to VM backups and Oracle Unified Directory gets certified for Oracle E-Business Suite.
- Amazon announced a new Multi-Region Infrastructure Deployment solution, which makes it easier to set up multi-region architectures, support controlled updates and maintain consistency of workloads. This solution automatically provisions and configures AWS CodePipeline to automate the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline for validating and deploying AWS CloudFormation templates into a primary and secondary region. With the many native AWS features provided through this solution, IT teams can automate building architectures cross-region that are robust and simple for developers to deploy to and manage. - Azure unveiled new improvements to its VM backups that give clients the ability to restore virtual machines containing unmanaged disks to managed disks. These capabilities enable the conversion of virtual machine disks that were previously not managed by Azure’s Backup, which can improve the protection of those workloads. These are important updates because they improve Azure’s standing as a viable public cloud option for organizations concerned with managing backups in their own solution. Learn more here.
- Oracle announced the certification of Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) 12.2.1.4.0 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.7 and higher. OUD can be used when enabling single sign-on capabilities for the integration of E-Business Suite 12.2 with Oracle Access Manager. Customers now have the option of using Oracle Internet Directory (OID) or OUD for their SSO requirements. OUD provides a more future-proof and feature-rich alternative to eBS users currently using OID, or who are considering moving to an SSO setup with Oracle Access Manager. Get more details here.
