Cloud Services for Healthcare Providers
Rising healthcare costs, increasing patient expectations and evolving regulations are all driving healthcare organizations to improve quality of care and patient privacy, while keeping spending in check. Legacy IT infrastructures in particular can prevent organizations from adapting to these pressures quickly and efficiently—especially in the face of shrinking IT budgets.
Industry consolidation has left many healthcare organizations struggling to use a patchwork of isolated data centers and redundant vendor solutions. Managing geographically and technologically disjointed systems can be challenging even for veteran IT employees. On top of this concern, increasing data storage demands are straining many healthcare organizations’ in-house storage capacities.
A Pay-as-you-Go Approach to IT Infrastructure
NaviCloud Cloud Services, Navisite’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution, enables healthcare organizations to provision scalable, usage-billed virtualized servers, storage, memory and bandwidth. The solution is available through a self-service portal, or administered by Navisite’s experts.
With this solution, individual departments have the freedom to leverage virtual resources as needed, while IT maintains high-level oversight and control. This functionality can make implementing new software simpler and more orderly. A department can rapidly provision a copy of a production environment to allow a vendor to test and deploy new software without the risk of impacting production, for example.
Key Service Benefits
- Mitigated up-front capital expenditure
- Enhanced operational efficiency and agility
- Robust physical and virtual security
- Guaranteed service levels
A Closer Look at Virtual Private Clouds
NaviCloud Cloud Services can also be implemented as virtual private cloud services. Virtual private clouds can allow a healthcare organization to have a physically distinct, dedicated computing environment within one of Navisite’s secure, enterprise-class data centers.
Business Associate Agreements (BAAs)
Navisite understands that when technology providers have access to personal healthcare information (PHI), they too must meet HIPAA requirements. Navisite can work with organizations, case-by-case, to develop and sign HIPAA Business Associate Agreements (BAAs).
Simple VMware Replication
For healthcare organizations leveraging a VMware environment, having a backup location for VMs is a vital part of a BCDR strategy. However, the costs of a secondary site, which will hopefully never need to be used, can be difficult to finance.
Via an optional, add-on service, NaviCloud Self-Service Cloud clients can replicate VMs from one location to another through a self-service interface.
Migrating Legacy Applications
NaviCloud Self-Service Cloud Services clients can elect to have one or more Virtual Data Center (vDC). Each vDC contains Virtual Applications (vApps), which contain virtual machines (VMs) and networks. This construct helps clients:
- Migrate apps to the Cloud one at a time, eliminating pressure to migrate entire data centers at once.
- Free up space in private clouds for sensitive workloads by migrating VMs to Navisite’s public cloud.
- Realize the benefits of a hybrid physical/virtual infrastructure.
Cloud Onboarding and Migration
To better enable clients to migrate their legacy environments to NaviCloud Self-Service Cloud with ease, Navisite offers multiple cloud onboarding resources and services, ranging from Self-Service Onboarding to fully Managed Cloud Migration.
