This week, AWS Backup manages Amazon Aurora Database Cluster Snapshots, Azure Kubernetes Service Upgrade improvements move to preview, Azure Files enhances data protection, Google Cloud Firewalls add new policy and insight features, and Oracle builds free diagnostic tools.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>AWS Backup <\/strong>can now manage Amazon Aurora Database Cluster Snapshots. AWS Backup can also configure backup policies, monitor backup activity and copy a snapshot (within most AWS regions). This allows customers to centralize their backup operations, including scheduling, execution, life cycle policies, security and restore and recovery processes. This new feature greatly simplifies the migration, operation and adoption of Amazon Aurora. These capabilities will improve the granularity and efficiency of regular Kubernetes upgrade operations. The first, Node Image, enables the update of node-level components without going through a full Kubernetes upgrade. And the second, Max Surge, allows for faster upgrades by taking advantage of multiple new buffer nodes to replace older nodes. Both of these features deliver faster and easier deployments for development teams, allowing them more time to focus on testing and future development. The new enhanced features include soft delete, share snapshots, redundancy options and access control to data and admin functions. Microsoft\u2019s strategy is to use a multi-layered approach to ensure that data is highly available, backed up and recoverable. Google Cloud\u2019s native, fully distributed firewall can provide the highest performance and scalability for enterprise workloads, and its hierarchical firewall policies deliver new, flexible control levels. And the added control means that companies can have tighter security and deploy consistent firewall rules. The end result is security administrators can define what traffic can enter or leave a customer\u2019s Google hosted infrastructure. These analyzers are non-invasive scripts that run health checks on EBS environments, looking for common issues and generating standardized reports. They also provide recommendations for issue resolution based on best practices and offer information on common issues to avoid. With these tools, customers can better understand the scope of their upgrade, allowing for better resource planning and time savings during the upgrade process.
