The use of the ClearDB DBaaS resulted in a 600-percent performance increase for the high-traffic blog coupled with significant cost savings.<br \/>\nWith WordPress as the blogging platform\/CMS (Content Management System) and Microsoft Azure as the cloud host, the Microsoft team looked for a highly scalable, secure and reliable database solution to host its Office blog, which was previously hosted by an external vendor who was not only expensive, but did not keep the infrastructure up to date and charged for upgrades.<br \/>\n<i>\u201cManaging the infrastructure for databases is a huge pain,\u201d<\/i> said Mark Brown, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Azure. <i>\u201cThese days, to be competitive, you have to spend your time on what you are good at, and unless you are a MySQL expert, you won\u2019t be that good at managing it.\u201d<\/i><br \/>\nWhile looking for DBaaS providers, they knew they had to find a solution that would integrate seamlessly with Azure.
