It started with a very modest keynote from Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft. Satya talked about unlocking the possibilities of the Cloud, which aligned very well with the Microsoft&#8217;s mission statement of <em>\u201cEmpowering people and organizations across the globe to achieve more\u201d<\/em>.<br \/>\nThe show was less about product announcements and more about empowering clients. Sayta talked about &#8216;<em>AI for Humanitarian Action&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>and solving global challenges. Umang captivated the audience with his session <em>Lessons Learned \u2013 VMware to Azure Migrations<\/em>. \u00a0It was a completely full session with lot of engaging conversations. Congratulations Umang!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/cloudmanagement.navisite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/umang-ignite.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-514\" src=\"https:\/\/cloudmanagement.navisite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/umang-ignite.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1097\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Experience<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ignite was a week full of learning and connecting.\u00a0 The seeds of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) were planted on the floors of the various Microsoft booths, and the concept is no longer just for the cloud giants and hyper-sclalers, but is slowly starting to catch on like wildfire throughout the industry.<br \/>\nI was excited try out all the new things in the lab and designing, architecting and sharing the best practices and ideas, and carry those forward as we design the solutions for the Navisite clients. As a first time attendee, I was religiously following the newbie tips \u2013 from wearing comfortable shoes, to picking up the badge at the airport. However, there was nothing like experiencing the magnitude of the event with 30,000+ attendees and vendors from all over the globe and learning!<br \/>\nThere was a large ecosystem of vendors and every vendor being creative about raffles and swags to attract the crowd towards their booth.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/cloudmanagement.navisite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/vendors.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-515\" src=\"https:\/\/cloudmanagement.navisite.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/vendors.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1227\" height=\"460\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Key Takeaways<\/h2>\n<p>Ignite offered a host of new and exciting features in infrastructure, networking and Office 365\u00a0 in public preview:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Azure Infrastructure<\/strong><br \/>\nAzure Ultra SSD Managed Disks public preview<br \/>\nAzure Virtual WAN general availability<br \/>\nAzure Front Door Service preview<br \/>\nAzure Firewall general availability<br \/>\nAzure ExpressRoute Direct public preview<br \/>\nAzure ExpressRoute Global Reach public preview<br \/>\nNew Azure DDoS Protection Standard features<br \/>\nMicrosoft Learn and role-based Microsoft Certifications<\/li>\n<li><strong>Security<\/strong><br \/>\nPassword-free sign-in for thousands of apps<\/li>\n<li><strong>Data<\/strong><br \/>\nSQL Server 2019 public preview<br \/>\nAzure Cosmos DB Multi-master general availability<br \/>\nAzure SQL Database intelligent features<\/li>\n<li><strong>Microsoft Office 365<\/strong><br \/>\nMicrosoft Teams integrates new Yammer and SharePoint features<br \/>\nLinkedIn integration with Outlook and Office apps<br \/>\nSecure Score Updates<br \/>\nIntegrated Microsoft 365 admin center<br \/>\nUnified search across Microsoft 365<br \/>\nAI to Power Meetings in Teams<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><strong>My favorite part:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>While I felt there were lots of great sessions, I have to say if I were to pick a favorite, it was a session <em>Inside Azure Data Center Architecture<\/em> by <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mark_Russinovich\">Mark Russinovich,\u00a0<\/a>the CTO of Azure. The session was packed with 10+ <strong><em>live demos<\/em><\/strong> and lot of technology humor.
