ClearDB will be discontinuing all MySQL database services in the Brazil and India regions on March 1, 2019. Customers subscribing to one or more database plans in regions of either country are strongly encouraged to act before March 1, 2019 to preserve their data or to ensure the operational availability of any dependent applications.
To preserve data, we recommend exporting a copy of each database for future reference or for migration to an alternative MySQL service. While several options may exist, one such service to consider is Azure Database for MySQL.
Click the following link for instructions on how to export your database.
On March 1, 2019, all remaining databases in the Brazil and India regions will be frozen, locked and no longer accessible to applications. These databases will be subsequently deleted. Final billing for all services will occur on March 6, 2019.
We would like to thank customers who have subscribed to our service in Brazil and India and apologize for any inconvenience this discontinuation of service may cause. To ensure effective communication, an e-mail announcing this discontinuation of service has been sent to the email address of record for each database. The e-mail includes information specific to each account and database as well as a link to this blog. For this reason, customers with more than one database will receive more than one e-mail notification.
Background: In 2017 all Azure customers subscribing to ClearDB’s MySQLaaS through the Azure marketplace were required to establish a direct billing relationship with ClearDB in order to continue using the ClearDB service. While this change of billing was extremely successful in other countries and regions, it was not the case in Brazil and India where a relatively low number of conversions coupled with disproportionate operational costs made this decision necessary. For sake of clarity, this announcement effects only Brazil and India. We remain committed to services offered in all other regions of the world.

About ClearDB: ClearDB powered MySQL databases run on multi-master, multi-regional clusters inside the Azure and AWS clouds. Your database is replicated across multiple nodes in a cluster and our advanced routers detect database node failures and re-route database traffic accordingly to maximize up-time. We also automate database backups and patching so your data stays safe and available, and all with no changes to MySQL.
